Reverend Moon prayed for the wisdom of King Solomon. Here is the classic story of Solomon’s judgment between two women fighting over a child.
Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.… The king said, “This one says, ‘My son is alive and your son is dead,’ while that one says, ‘No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.’” Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword for the king. He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.” The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!” But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!” Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.” When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice. (1 Kings 3:23-28)
We see this in Solomon:
Front-line investment; hands-on capability: “two prostitutes stood before him”
Vision “she is his mother”
Authority: the power to induce others to respond voluntarily, agree, obey and serve happily
Nobility “he had wisdom from God to administer justice”
Creatorship “”Bring me a sword” represented his power to create the nation and therefore to judge over life and death
Ability to govern “they held the king in awe”
How is a parent a king?
They create children and, for them, a home, economy, government, schools, entertainment
They make front-line investment in the children: flesh and blood; labor and provision
They have the vision for the children’s future
They have wisdom based on experience, relative to the child
They are able to govern
They can gain willing compliance
How is a grandparent a king?
They continually have care and concern
They see the long-term vision on earth and, beyond this life, in heaven
They are in the position to bequeath ownership
They are the best teachers: they want to repeat it again and again
They created the lineage, the realm of the family, and if they are kings, then it is a royal family
